Four title fights official for BAMMA 29 in Birmingham

All eight fighters set to compete for BAMMA championship belts successfully made weight ahead of their respective contests at BAMMA 29.

The event sees the BAMMA cage return to its spiritual home of Birmingham, England, and the promotion is bringing four title fights along for the ride.

The vacant BAMMA world heavyweight title will see former rugby league player-turned-mixed martial artist Brett McDermott take on German powerhouse Ruben Wolf in the night’s main event.

The vacant BAMMA middleweight title is also on the line, as ‘The Black Mamba’ Yannick Bahati renews acquaintances with rival Matt ‘Farmerboy’ Hallam in the evening’s co-main attraction.

Two BAMMA Lonsdale titles are also up for grabs, with lightweight champ Tim Barnett set to defend against Mario ‘Rude Boy’ Saeed, while Terry ‘The Dominator’ Brazier and Walter ‘The Sniper’ Gahadza will go head to head for the vacant Lonsdale welterweight strap.

Also set for action is reality TV star Aaron Chalmers, who will make his pro MMA debut against Greg Jenkins.

Chalmers’ participation was originally announced as a lightweight, but the bout’s weight class was changed in the lead-up to the fight, with the pair agreeing to compete at welterweight. Chalmers hit 170lbs on the nose at weigh-in day, with Jenkins coming in significantly under, at 163.6.

The event marks the promotion’s TV debut on entertainment channel Dave, with the main card set to be broadcast live from 9pm in the UK and Ireland.

The preliminary bouts will be live-streamed on the Facebook page of trending news/entertainment site UNILAD from 6:30pm.
